Acelotti believe Milan's era wasn't over yet

Carlo Ancelotti warns Milan they need to buck their ideas up, but doesn’t agree with Kaka that “an era is coming to an end.”

The Brazilian made the comments this week and suggested the time was right to make vast changes in the squad, including the introduction of a Steven Gerrard figure.

“An era ends when the owners change, so while Silvio Berlusconi remains President, this era will continue,” replied Ancelotti.

“There will certainly be a process of renewal, but that’s not to say anything has to come to an end. That’s not the way I see it.

“Kaka is an intelligent lad and can express his own opinion, but every now and then he needs to be told off, too.

“Ricardo was spot on about Gerrard, though. He’s a player who could be very useful, but it’s all fantasy football.”

One of those rumoured to be moving on is Ancelotti himself, who confessed he would certainly like to take the Chelsea job.

“It’s true I am taking English lessons, but that is because I need it to go round the world, not just to work in England. In any case, there are no developments and there won’t be any.”

The tactician has urged new signings in defence and upfront with latest reports suggesting a renewed bid for Arsenal’s Emmanuel Adebayor.

“We must make the right tweaks to keep this team competitive, but there’s no need to do something wild. [Marco] Borriello could potentially give us 20 goals, he is recovering and will have the same quality he did a year ago before his injuries.”

Milan are pushing for second place and the former Juventus boss admits he is “supporting Inter tonight” in the Derby d’Italia.

They take on Torino on Sunday evening and Marek Jankulovski is suspended with Paolo Maldini not 100 per cent fit.

“We need to be careful, as Toro have changed and thanks to their new Coach play in a much more solid way. We could have difficulty breaking through their defence and the three midfielders protecting them.

“Lately our own standard of football has left something to be desired, so we have to do better, especially against a locked-down opponent.

“We need heft upfront and a high tempo. The team is in good shape physically, but has to play better.”

Milan may not extended Senderos permanently

There are reports Milan won’t make Philippe Senderos’ move permanent, so he could switch to Fiorentina or Hertha Berlin.

The Swiss international arrived on loan from Arsenal in the summer, but has only made 11 Serie A appearances – five starts – due to a series of injury worries.

German newspapers suggest it’s not enough to push Milan into paying the £6.5m to buy him outright from the Gunners.

Instead Senderos is considering interesting proposals from Fiorentina, Lazio, Udinese and Hertha Berlin.

The 24-year-old started his career at Servette in Switzerland and joined Arsenal in 2003.

Milan need to revamp their defence with Paolo Maldini set to retire and Alessandro Nesta still struggling to recover from a serious back condition.

Giuseppe Favalli was expected to walk away in the summer when his contract expires, but there are reports the club could extend his deal.

Ancelotti - The story has to end

Carlo Ancelotti has admitted he “would like” to lead Chelsea and “won’t stay at Milan indefinitely. Sooner or later this story has to end.”

The Coach has always stated he has no intention of quitting the Rossoneri even though his contract, which expires in 2010, has not yet been renewed.

However, he was a little more open when answering questions posed by children at the Milanello training ground event.

“I will not go to Chelsea, even if I won’t stay at Milan indefinitely,” said Ancelotti when asked if he’d work at Stamford Bridge.

“Sooner or later this story has to end. Chelsea are a great club and I cannot say I wouldn’t like it.”

These comments fuel speculation that Roman Abramovich has offered the job to Ancelotti when Guus Hiddink returns to Russia and that the tactician is giving it serious consideration.

Milan have hinted they will fire him if he doesn’t at least finish in the top three, but going into this weekend they are only two points adrift of Juventus in second place.

Paolo Maldini added more evidence that Ancelotti is not entirely sure what to do with his future.

“Every day I ask the Coach if he’s staying and he always tells me to ask him again tomorrow.”

Borriello's comeback from long injuries

Marco Borriello’s long injury nightmare is coming to an end and he hopes to play in Milan’s final games of the season.

The former Genoa striker has been struggling throughout the campaign with a series of setbacks that have seen him make just eight appearances in all competition.

“I am training twice a day and my leg is holding up. I’m so happy that I can start running and look ahead without worrying about what this season has been like for me,” he told Milan Channel.

“We will not take risks or push the recovery process, but if all goes well I’d love to play some of the important games that await us in May.”

The Rossoneri certainly have a tough run-in as they face Juventus, Udinese, Roma and Fiorentina.

Borriello returned to San Siro after scoring 19 goals for Genoa last term, but has struggled with injuries to the meniscus ligament, a recurring thigh strain and in February underwent surgery to remove a cyst from his right thigh.

“Fans stop me in the street and ask when I’ll return. I can only focus on working hard and doing well in a Milan jersey, whether that is this season or the next.

“My objective is to play at Milan for many years to come and hopefully end my career here.”

Maldini only regret

Paolo Maldini prepares to hang up his boots after 24 years, but has only one regret. “I’d love to replay the 2002 game against South Korea.”

In what proved to be his final appearance for Italy, the legend made a mistake that allowed Korea to snatch a Golden Goal, knocking the Azzurri out of the World Cup.

“If I could play one game again, it would not be Milan-Liverpool in Istanbul,” he said of the Champions League Final in which they threw away a 3-0 lead in six minutes.

“We played there for 120 minutes like Gods and for six like idiots. No, I’d love to replay the 2002 game against South Korea.

“I can still see Ahn Jung Hwan’s Golden Goal, my last moment in the Nazionale.”

Many have urged Marcello Lippi to give Maldini one last cap to celebrate his retirement, but even the defender was against that being February’s clash with Brazil.

“The newspapers dragged me into that match. I was open to it as long as a) it wasn’t out of pity and b) I didn’t get in the way.”

However, Maldini did say he would be “proud” to play for Italy in the friendly that is being organised in Pescara to raise funds for the Abruzzo earthquake victims.

“I have played 895 games for Milan in all competition and now I’ve recovered from my muscular problems and there are seven rounds left, I’d like to reach 900.

“I wanted to call it a day at San Siro, but in our last game of the season we play away to Fiorentina. So I’ll have to salute the fans the week before, on May 24 against Roma.”

Some at the club are still trying to convince the captain to change his mind and play on, but the dye is cast.

“I am 100 per cent going to retire. This time last year I was doubtful, but not now. Negative incidents can happen when you’re 25 or 40.

“The problem is you cannot go against nature. You can push it, but at a certain point you need to give up. I still have the fire in my belly and could physically continue, but I’ve made my decision.”

Ambrosini intrerested on Napoli

The agent of Milan midfielder Massimo Ambrosini has refused to rule out a transfer to Napoli.

Ambrosini is still waiting on a contract offer to extend his current deal, which expires in 2010.

Milan are expected to make some sweeping changes to their squad this summer and Ambrosini could be one of the men making way as recent reports suggest that Napoli are ready to pounce.

“Anything is possible for Massimo,” representative Moreno Roggi said on Radio Kiss Kiss.

“All doors are open, but I do think it is unlikely that he will be leaving Milan because he has another year on his contract.

“It's nice to hear talk of Napoli - the more talk the better - but that isn't a possibility right now.

“However, Napoli are a great club and Ambrosini is a great player - so why not?”

Simon Kjaer focused on Palermo

Palermo rising star Simon Kjaer is hot property in the peninsula, but he remains focused on life in Sicily.

The Rosanero are determined to keep hold of the 20-year-old despite the attentions of Inter, Juventus and Milan.

“I know that the media are talking about me joining a big side,” Kjaer said in the Corriere dello Sport.

“It is a positive thing to hear and it boosts my confidence, but I don't really pay any attention to it.

“The most important thing for me is when the Coach tells me that I'm playing well.

“I have a contract until 2013 and I'm not worried. Any player would be happy to join one of Europe's top teams but I would love to stay here.

“I love everything about this city, especially the weather. I am gaining in experience and I will keep growing because the club and the Coach have faith in me.

“I think Serie A is the best League in the world and I didn't expect to find such dangerous strikers at every team.

“For example, we will be taking on Bologna on Sunday and they are third from bottom but they have Marco Di Vaio, who is one of the best strikers in Italy.”

Match report - AC Milan 5:1 Torino

Scorers: Inzaghi 13, 37, 60 (M), Kaka pen 68 (M), Franceschini 80 (T), Ambrosini 90 (M)

Pippo Inzaghi bagged a hat-trick as Milan crushed Torino 5-1 and caught Juventus in second place.

The Rossoneri could catch Juventus in second place with a victory, even though their performances hadn't been all that impressive lately. Toro meanwhile felt the flames of Serie B licking at their feet, although they had a boost from last week's dramatic late win over Catania, Giancarlo Camolese's first victory on the bench.

Milan's defence was decimated as Marek Jankulovski's ban added to injury woes for Alessandro Nesta, Kakha Kaladze, Daniele Bonera, Luca Antonini, Christian Abbiati, Gennaro Gattuso and Marco Borriello, so Mathieu Flamini improvised as a full-back. Toro weren't in better shape, missing Eugenio Corini, Elvis Abbruscato, Andrea Gasbarroni, Marco Pisano, Nicola Ventola and Paolo Zanetti.

Pippo Inzaghi got the ball in the back of the net after nine minutes by nodding David Beckham's free kick, but he was offside.

It was only a warning, as soon after Inzaghi got his header after all. A Beckham corner kick was whipped in for SuperPippo's free header from six yards, left totally unmarked.

Matteo Sereni blocked another Inzaghi header from a long Beckham pass, while the goalkeeper also controlled Pippo's shot set up by Alexandre Pato. The young Brazilian went for goal at the back post when he should've crossed for the unmarked Inzaghi.

Nelson Dida smothered a Blerim Dzemaili snapshot after 34 minutes, but it was all Milan and the two stars combined again. Kaka went on the counter and Beckham dummied a shot from outside the box, but instead placed the ball on Inzaghi's head for a second goal.

Claudio Rivalta went off with a muscular problem to make way for Paolo Hernan Dellafiore.

Another corner wreaked havoc in the Granata box, Flamini volleying inches over the bar. Kaka should've scored a third when Flamini cut back Andrea Pirlo's long ball from the byline, but the Brazilian shinned it well over.

Brazil boss Carlos Dunga was in the stands, but Pato picked up a slight knock so he was replaced by Ronaldinho for the second half, while Jurgen Saumel came on for Dzemaili.

There was a comical moment when Massimo Ambrosini accidentally ran into the back of the referee and knocked him over!

Rolando Bianchi almost scored a Giuseppe Mascara-style stunner from 40 yards out, but it was just over with Dida backpedalling furiously.

Inzaghi completed his hat-trick on the hour mark. Ronaldinho's through ball allowed SuperPippo to spring the offside trap and he kept his cool to blast over Sereni from 10 yards. Inzaghi had also scored a treble against Toro in a 6-0 victory back in 2002.

Toro created a good chance to pull one back on the counter with Alessandro Rosina and Ignazio Abate combining well, but Bianchi misunderstood the direction of the pass behind the defence.

Inzaghi was given a standing ovation by San Siro as he made way for Andriy Shevchenko. Soon after the referee pointed to the spot as Ambrosini went through the middle on another through ball and Sereni came flying out to knock him over. Kaka stepped up and converted low despite Sereni guessing the right angle.

Paolo Maldini was also rested, giving youngster Darmian a chance to shine.

Toro got a consolation goal late on with Milan's habitual problems from set plays, as a corner ricocheted around the box until Ivan Franceschini redirected Simone Barone's effort from six yards.

Kaka's effort from distance took a deflection to whistle wide of the far post, but in the final minute he threaded through for Ambrosini to rush into the box and place an angled drive into the far bottom corner.
Milan: Dida; Flamini, Senderos, Maldini (Darmian 72), Zambrotta; Beckham, Pirlo, Ambrosini; Kaka; Pato (Ronaldinho 46), Inzaghi (Shevchenko 65)

Torino: Sereni; Rivalta (Dellafiore 40), Natali, Franceschini, Rubin (Ogbonna 65); Abate, Dzemaili (Saumel 46), Barone, Diana; Rosina; Bianchi

66th game AC Milan Vs Torino

Sunday night at 20.30 Milan will host Torino at San Siro for the 66th time in history. The balance of the precedents is favorable to the Rossoneri: the Granata haven't won in Milan since the 1984/1985 season.

On Sunday 19 April at 20.30 Milan will welcome Giancarlo Camolese's Torino at San Siro in the evening match of the 32nd matchday of Serie A.

In total there are 65 precedents in Milan between the two clubs with a balance in favor of the Rossoneri with 37 victories, 17 draws, and 11 defeats. Only 47 goals have been conceded by Milan, against the 114 conceded by the Granata. Nine penalties were given to Ancelotti's side, six against.

Milan's last victory was in the preceding encounter, in the 2002/2003 season due to the Granata's relegation to Serie B. It was 6 October 2002 and the Rossoneri won 6-0. These were the goalscorers: 21’ pen. Pirlo (M); 31’, 79’ and86’ Inzaghi (M), 41’ Serginho (M), 84’ own goal Fattori (T).

Torino, meanwhile, haven't won at San Siro since the 1984/1985 season: it was 24 March 1985 and the Rossoneri team coached by Liedholm was beaten 1-0 by the Granata of Radice thanks to Schachner's goal in the 61st minute.

The biggest victory came in the 1949/1950 season. It was 26 February 1950 and Milan won 7-0 with a brace by Burini in the 1st and 36th minutes, Nordahl III's brace in the 6th, 29th and 43rd minutes, and Liedholm's goal in the 90th minute.

Maldini simple life

The Rossoneri's captain, Paolo Maldini, gave an interview to daily newspaper 'La Stampa' in which he touched on various themes: his career, his emotions, Milan, his life.

Paolo Maldini, a name, a legend. He has tied his entire career to Milan, the team of his city which saw him mature and grow as a man and a professional. In 1978 he had his first try-out with the Rossoneri, his Serie A debut on 20 January 1985 under Nils Liedhbolm, while he was just sixteen, in a match against Udinese (1-1).

Already the following season, at just 17, Paolo became a first choice in the Rossoneri's formation, with the number 3 shirt of the left back. He scored his first Serie A goal on 4 January 1987 in Como-Milan (0-1). In Europe, his first goal came on 21 October 1992 in Slovan Bratislava-Milan (0-1).

Today Paolo is Milan's captain, husband and father of Christian and Daniel, and holds the record for the most seasons in Serie A with the same team. With 25 consecutive seasons played with Milan, he is the record holder for appearences: 895 official games played, including Cups.

"There are seven games left to the end of the season" - Paolo Maldini said this morning in an interview to Turin daily newspaper 'La Stampa' - I've solved my physical problems, I'd like to get to 900."
The Rossoneri's captain made up a balance of his career on his last season as a player, saying: "As a man and a player I gave my best from when I was 30 to when I turned 40." On which game gave him the most emotions, Maldini answered: "The debut in Udine. Battistini got injured, Liedholm told me during the break in the dressing room."

With Milan's shirt in Italy he won, at national level: 7 Scudetti (1987-1988, 1991-1992, 1992-1993, 1993-1994, 1995-1996, 1998-1999, 2003-2004); 5 Italian Supercups (1988, 1992, 1993, 1994, 2004 ) and 1 Coppa Italia (2002-2003); at international level: 5 Champions Cups/Champions League (1988-1989, 1989-1990, 1993-1994, 2002-2003, 2006-2007); 5 UEFA Supercups (1989, 1990, 1994, 2003, 2007); 2 Intercontinental Cups (1989, 1990); 1 Club World Cup (2007).

With the national team shirt he debuted at age 19, on 31 March 1988 in Jugoslavia-Italy (1-1) and scored the first of his 7 goals on 20 January 1993 in Florence against Mexico (2-0).

He quit the national team in 2002 at 34 after the World Cup. With the Azzurri's shirt he has played 126 matches (an absolute record), scoring 7 goals. Paolo also holds the record for the amount of matches with the captain's armband: 74. It's also possible that he will wear the Azzurri's shirt one more time in a possible friendly at Pescara in an act of solidarity towards Abruzzo: "It would be magnificent, I would be proud" - Maldini commented.

On 26 June Maldini will turn 41 and he will end this cycle of honors, glories and victories with the Rossoneri shirt, but since a few months a 'new' defender, Thiago Silva, is training alongside him at Milanello, and Paolo gave him his grade: "A very high grade. He's strong and quick. He's worthy of Milan."

All of this is captain Maldini, a unique case in the world and certainly all the Rossoneri fans, and not only them, will have a sad day when he plays his last match at San Siro on 24 May against Roma: "I would have liked to finish at San Siro, but our last match is in Florence. And so I will wave the fans goodbye the Sunday before, on 24 May at home against Roma."

Galliani - Pato suffered fouls a lot

On his arrival at Via Rossellini, headquarters of the Lega Calcio, the general manager of the Rossoneri, Adriano Galliani, replied to the questions of the journalists this morning, speaking about various current issues.

These are the declarations of the Rossoneri's general manager at the entrance of the Lega Calcio, in Via Rossellini in Milan.

ON THE MARKET DECLARATIONS MADE YESTERDAY BY KAKA
"I don't speak about the transfer market. Even though Kaka spoke about the market I'm sorry to disappoint you, but we won't speak about the market before the end of the season. I have very clear ideas in my head, but I won't announce them before May 31."

ON THE SECOND PLACE IN THE STANDINGS
"I don't like making predictions, Juve are just two points ahead of us, but we have Genoa behind us who are doing very well and even Fiorentina, we'll see what happens. It's difficult, but this is football."

ON THE FOULS SUFFERED BY PATO
"On Pato I repeat what I already said: Pato is scientifically fouled as soon as he goes on the pitch, hoping that since he's still young, then he starts staying away from the action, which at times happens. I enjoy watching the games and I saw that in the last two away games Pato was scientifically fouled in the first minutes. If you notice, in the second half, when the lad tries to stay away, he is hit less. The defenders have always hit the attackers, but the treatment towards Pato, in my opinion, is a bit excessive. However, it's up to the referees to verify if this is all good or bad. I think that the referees have the duty not to safeguard, but to stop the violent game and I hope that they do so in the next games."

ON ADRIANO, TO DIVORCE FROM INTER
"No one ever thought about Adriano. Milan does not go into this issue which is of Inter."

Ronaldinho desire Champion League

Ronaldinho feels recovered from his heel injury and ready to do well. The Gaucho is counting on the next games to prepare the match in May against Juventus.

During the break between the morning and afternoon training sessions, Ronaldinho talked to Milan Channel's microphones. The interview was about his and the team's condition.

"What we are going through - Ronaldinho said - is a very important part of the season. I'm happy I'm feeling good in an important moment for the team. I want to get to the end of this week feeling good. I am happy to have recovered from my injury, I feel ready and I hope to give the team a hand. Milan's condition is improving, we are getting important points, and I'm happy about that. The objective of the whole team is the qualification to the Champions League, my objective is to play better and better."

"Now - Ronaldinho continued - we have two matches at San Siro, in front of our fans, whom we need to support us and be present. We have to use this good moment for us at all costs to continue in our road toward the Champions League. In May we will also have some key games, first of all Milan-Juventus, but to get to that match the right way we have to do our best in the next three games. Here at Milan we all have a great desire to play in the Champions League again."

Ancelotti - We must be carefull

As preparations resumed today at Milanello, Carlo Ancelotti talked about the important victory against Chievo and talked about some individual players like Dida, Seedorf, and Kaká, and the fouls suffered by Pato.

Here are the declarations made by Carlo Ancelotti to Milan Channel's microphones, today at Milanello, before the afternoon training session:

Coach Ancelotti, Saturday's victory against Chievo was important...
"Yes, because the three points we obtained in Verona on Saturday are important for the league position. In the high positions no one is giving up and Milan have the duty to keep up with the competition. Even though the team's performance wasn't brilliant, it was important to win to keep the advantage we have over Genoa and Fiorentina, while Roma are now further behind. We have to be careful because a misstep could compromise the advantage we have."

After Saturday night's Juventus defeat, can Milan believe in the second place?
"We have to believe in it because at the moment Juventus are closer. The Bianconeri have to careful just like us, and they have to play on Saturday night against Inter and that is for us an extra reason to try and catch them."

Nelson Dida became the first choice again after Abbiati's injury. How has he been doing?
"Dida is putting to use the work he did while he didn't play: he has recovered physically and he is now as reliable as he used to be. The merit is mostly his for the effort he has made in these last months."

How did you see Clarence Seedorf on Saturday?
"Clarence played a good match, it was important that he scored. Let's say it wasn't a great match from the footballing point of view by Milan, but the team played with attention and concentration. We gave something away, but we got the result thanks to the determination with which we entered the pitch."

How far do you think Kaká is?
"Kaká's performance in Verona is a consequence of his period of inactivity. He was out for a long time and he needs to find his best condition, but Ricky is a player who uses his speed a lot and if he isn't in good shape he is penalised."

Pato always gets fouled by his opponents.
"Pato is a great player and he is destined to get fouled because he is faster than other players and his opponents are forced to foul him because they are too late. He has to vary his play a little and not always receive the ball at his feet, but while running, that way he wouldn't be fouled as much."

Sunday night against Torino in defence Jankulovski will be out suspended.
"We hope to recover Maldini, we have to wait for Bonera, but at the moment the defence is doing well. Even though we have had many injuries this season, the results say that the defence is quite reliable."

Bronzetti - "All teams want Acelotti"

Carlo Ancelotti is “the most sought-after Coach in the football universe,” reveals transfer guru Ernesto Bronzetti.

The tactician’s contract with Milan expires in 2010 and he will be released if they fail to finish in the top three this season.

“Ancelotti is the most sought-after Coach in the football universe,” said the specialist in the Liga market.

“He is wanted by Real Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Roma.

“There is a great fondness between Ancelotti and [Vice-President Adriano] Galliani. Because of this they will only decide what to do at the end of May.”

The Coach has won the Champions League twice and reached three Finals, also lifting the Scudetto, Coppa Italia, Italian Super Cup, two UEFA Super Cups and the 2007 Club World Cup.

Real Madrid are also very keen to bring in another Milan figure, Kaka, but Bronzetti does not hold out much hope.

“Real still don’t have a President, although what I hear in Spain suggests Florentino Perez has it sealed up.

“He will make three big splashes on the transfer market. His main dream is Kaka, but it’s going to be very difficult to pry him away from Milan.

“It’s going to be a very quiet summer for most clubs compared to past years, because only two sides have any real money – Real Madrid and Manchester City, with Chelsea and Bayern Munich lagging behind.”

Bronzetti also commented on how Inter can move forward following Adriano’s decision to take a sabbatical from football.

“As a fan I hope Adriano can get back on track psychologically. Of course if before we were talking about a player worth 35-40m Euros, then now Inter must loan him out until he can find himself.

“It won’t be easy finding him a buyer because of the many problems he has had. There are still many who admire the Brazilian, but they certainly won’t invest heavily in him.

“Adriano keeps saying he wants to quit, then begin again. He needs to find someone who truly admires him, but with his wage demands it all seems very difficult.”

Kaka - "Milan needs a Gerrard"

Kaka has warned Milan have reached “the end of an era and need to renew this squad,” starting from his pick Steven Gerrard.

The Rossoneri have long been criticised for their ageing team and even the Ballon d’Or winner admits the time has come to make sweeping changes.

“We are reaching the end of an era and another will begin,” he told Sky Italia television.

“Perhaps this is an historic moment and the time has come to renew this squad with so many players at the end of their contracts and others who can come in.

“We can create a mix of experienced players and youngsters who are very hungry for success.”

Among those packing their bags at the end of this season are Paolo Maldini, Emerson, Giuseppe Favalli and possibly Nelson Dida.

“I like modern players who know how to attack and defend,” continued Kaka. “If it were up to me then I’d sign someone like Gerrard, who I think is the complete package.

“He can play anywhere, as a trequartista, deep midfielder or on the right. I think he’d fit in very well at Milan.”

The usual reports in Spain suggest Real Madrid are making another mega bid for Kaka, but their former Coach Bernd Schuster isn’t buying it any more.

“I doubt Kaka or Cristiano Ronaldo will come. It would be a miracle,” he told newspaper Marca.

Ronaldinho - "I'm feeling so good"

Milan ace Ronaldinho is determined to help the Rossoneri secure their Champions League qualification berth.

The Brazilian has had a season of ups and downs at San Siro, but he has made an impressive contribution in recent weeks.

“This is a very important stage in the season,” Ronaldinho said on the Milan Channel.

“I am happy that I am feeling so good on a personal level at this time as I have recovered from my injury problems.

“I feel like I'm ready to give a real hand to this team. As a team we are playing better and picking up important points.

“The whole squad is focused on the objective of Champions League qualification and my personal target is to keep playing better and better.”

Milan have two consecutive home games looming against Torino and Palermo.

“With the help of our fans we must take advantage of these two matches and continue on the path back to the Champions League,” Dinho stressed.

“Then in May we have a crunch match against Juventus. We need to play the best we can before that so that we are ready.”

Milan lead fourth-placed Genoa by four points and Fiorentina in fifth by six.

Seedorf said keeps positive

Milan midfielder Clarence Seedorf has commented on Carlo Ancelotti's Chelsea links and this season's Champions League.

After a disappointing campaign, Rossoneri tactician Ancelotti has been widely tipped to move to Stamford Bridge.

“The rumours are absolutely true!” Seedorf joked on Sky Sport Italia.

“They have been saying these things for the last four years, but he has always stayed in the end.

"We have a very good relationship. Everything that's being said today could be denied tomorrow.

"Would I join him if he went to Chelsea? I prefer to keep my feet on the ground and concentrate on what needs to be done. My experience tells me that is the right thing to do."

Milan have been forced to sit out this season's Champions League after finishing fifth in Serie A last term.

"It's difficult to stay at the top level every year, and last season Milan did not deserve to be there," Seedorf admitted.

"I think it's good because it gives us the right hunger to compete again. It's also good for great champions to go through a season like this.

"Like all European teams, Italian teams are losing to the English sides.

“It's only in the last few years that they've started to play good football there, before they only played with long balls.

"I don't think there are that many problems with Italian football, this is just a temporary phase where other teams are slightly faster, stronger, in better shape."

Ancelotti - "We believe in second place"

Carlo Ancelotti has gone from clinging to a Champions League spot to leading the charge on Juventus in second place.

There are only two points now separating the teams and that could be wiped out this weekend when Juve welcome Serie A leaders Inter to Turin.

“We believe in second place, because at this moment Juventus are falling back,” the Coach told Milan Channel.

“The Bianconeri need to be wary, as do we, but they have to play Inter and for us this provides extra motivation to catch up.”

The 1-0 victory away to Chievo was the fourth in their last five games and now the Rossoneri are closing in on the runner-up spot.

“The three points we earned in Verona were important for our position in the table. Nobody lets go in the top spots and it is Milan’s duty to keep up with the others.

“Even if our team performance wasn’t fantastic, it was important to win so we could maintain our advantage over Genoa and Fiorentina, while Roma are a little further back. We must be alert, though, as one slip-up could compromise everything.”

Last season Milan failed to qualify for the Champions League and the club has hinted anything less than third place will see Ancelotti replaced.

He has struggled throughout the campaign with an injury crisis and will miss Christian Abbiati, Kakha Kaladze, Daniele Bonera, Marco Borriello, Emerson, Gennaro Gattuso and the suspended Marek Jankulovski for this week’s game with Torino.

“It was not the best performance against Chievo, but the team played with focus and concentration. The result came thanks to the determination we put on to the field.”

The star player of the victory at the Bentegodi was previously pilloried Nelson Dida, who has rediscovered his form after Abbiati’s knee ligament injury.

“Dida is reaping the rewards of all the hard work he did when he wasn’t playing, as he has recovered physically and is back to the reliable goalkeeper he was in the past. Most of the credit goes to him and the effort he put in during these months.”

Amauri on Milan list

There are renewed reports that Milan are preparing a sensational swoop for Juventus ace Amauri.

The Rossoneri were keen to sign the Brazilian marksman when he was at Palermo, but Juve beat them to his signature.

Amauri has been a great success in Turin and has adapted impressively to life at one of the peninsula's giants.

Meanwhile, Milan have struggled and are expected to ring the changes this summer in a bid to rejuvenate their underachieving squad.

According to Tuttosport, the Diavolo are convinced that Amauri is the answer to their problems and have already discussed the player with Bianconeri officials.

Brazilian sporting director Leonardo is also said to have met with Amauri to try and persuade him to end his Juve adventure early.

However, it still seems extremely unlikely that Amauri will be willing to move and that Juve would sell him for anything less a fortune.

Furthermore, Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani has warned Rossoneri fans not to expect huge spending this summer and doesn't seem to be planning to break the bank.

Ancelotti - "Allegri have to wait"

Milan Coach Carlo Ancelotti has told Massimiliano Allegri he will have to wait a little longer before taking over the Rossoneri.

Ancelotti is reportedly on his way to Chelsea this summer and Cagliari Coach Allegri has been identified as his possible replacement.

After losing his first five games in charge, Allegri has worked wonders with the Sardi, guiding them to eighth place in Serie A.

Despite allegedly receiving a lucrative contract offer worth £5.5m a year from Chelsea, which is said to include a £1m bonus for every trophy won, Ancelotti insists he is going nowhere.

“I exclude the possibility of going to Chelsea and I don't consider it necessary to give an explanation for that decision,” Ancelotti said.

When asked about the prospect of Allegri succeeding him, Ancelotti replied: “He is a very good Coach.

“I wish him the best of luck even if he will have to wait a little while longer to take my place here at Milan,” Ancelotti concluded.

The 49-year-old four-time European Cup winner is the second longest serving Coach in the history of Milan behind the great Nereo Rocco.

Ancelotti first took over the Rossoneri in 2001 after relatively short stints at Reggiana, Parma and Juventus.

He also represented Milan as a player, clocking up 112 appearances for the Rossoneri between 1987 and 1992.

Milan targeted Tulio Tanaka

Milan could look to Japan in their attempts to strengthen their defence this summer, as Marcus Tulio Tanaka is a possible target.

The 27-year-old, who plays under the name Tulio, is currently plying his trade for J-League outfit Urawa Red Diamonds.

Milan beat the Japanese side during the Club World Cup in 2007, but Tanaka made an impression and has been a transfer objective ever since.

Tulio is most frequently used as a sweeper, but he is also comfortable playing in a holding midfield role.

According to Il Giornale, Milan may be tempted to table a bid this summer as he could be signed for as little as £3m.

Tulio’s mother is Italian, so the Japanese international would count as an EU-player as well as a potential marketing gateway into the lucrative Asian arena.

Press reports suggest that Milan’s other main objectives are Roma star Philippe Mexes and Palermo talent Simon Kjaer.

Ancelotii first red card of his Milan career

Carlo Ancelotti admits it was “only right” that he receive the first red card of his Milan career and ruled out a move to Chelsea.

“I left the technical area, although I would like to point out I did not insult or offend anybody,” he said after the 1-0 win away to Chievo.

“I complained about a free kick, probably in too strong a fashion, with the referee and then the fourth official. The decision to send me off was understandable.”

Ancelotti had never previously been dismissed for dissent on the Rossoneri bench, although it didn't put his team off their stride.

“Chievo adopted our same tactical system, so we tried to shake things up a bit. I think the team acted intelligently because we are not playing great football at the moment and need to wait for the top players to hit form so we can bring that extra quality.”

The week has been a tense one for Ancelotti, with reports he has agreed a contract to take over at Chelsea come the end of the season.

“There will be all sorts of talk, I'm sure we'll be in the eye of the storm,” he told Sky.

“I hope it will all be over by the end of May. Why then? Because I want to go on m

Milan - "Keep continues like this"

After the match at the Bentegodi, the Rossoneri are happy about the three points and determined to continue the series of positive results, especially in the next two games at San Siro.

Here are the declarations made by the Rossoneri after Chievo-Milan 0-1:

GIANLUCA ZAMBROTTA:
"We obtained another important victory today, it was a bit suffered, but the most important thing is that we got it. Now we have to continue with this positive series of results. We risked something in the second half, but it's normal because we knew that Chievo were a good team. We have to continue with this mentality."

PHILIPPE SENDEROS
"Let's continue like this, it's important to continue not conceding goals. It was a difficult match and we earned three very important points.
Personally I am never entirely self-satisfied because I always want to do better, but I am happy I helped the team not to concede goals."

RICKY KAKÁ:
"Winning this match was important, we have a good distance from our competitors for the third place now and we have to continue like this. Certainly we will try to get as close as possible to Juventus and Inter, there's seven games left and they will be decisive for us, but also for the teams in front of us and those behind.
Personally it was an important match for me, to gain some confidence. Physically I am not perfect yet, the foot is responding well, but I lack physical fitness. I already talked with MilanLab, we will do specific work during the week."

CLARENCE SEEDORF:
"The satisfaction for the goal is great, but more for the three points because no team is giving up and we have to keep this step and continue like this. Slowly we are recovering everyone. Aside from me, also Ricky is doing better and Shevchenko did very well. We are recovering from our injuries and finding back our condition.
Now we have two home games in which we will have to get maximum points."

Milan wins agaisnt Chievo

Nice match at the Bentegodi and second precious consecutive win for Milan. The match is decided by Clarence Seedorf’s goal and a super save by Dida in the second half. Ancelotti is sent off: his first time with the Rossoneri.

In the Spring air of the Bentegodi, coach Domenico Di Carlo confirms everything: Chievo goes on the pitch with the formation which was predicted on the eve, that is Sorrentino, Sardo, Morero, Yepes, Mantovani, Luciano, Rigoni, Marcolini, Pinzi, Pellissier and Bogdani.

David Beckham started from the bench for the second consecutive game. The starting eleven of the Rossoneri is made up of Dida, Zambrotta, Senderos, Favalli, Jankulovski, Pato, Ambrosini, Pirlo, Seedorf, Kakà and Inzaghi. A sort of 4-2-3-1, therefore for Milan, with Seedorf-Kaka-Pato behind the only striker Inzaghi.

After a minute of silence observed in honour of the earthquake victims in Abruzzo, Chievo proved straight away their excellent athletic condition, imposing a high rhythm, but the first half ended in a goalless draw.

There were no changes between the first and second half, with the first substitution arriving in the 49th minute for Chievo, as Luciano substitutes Colucci. Milan took the lead in the 53rd minute thanks to a wonderful team move which started with Pato, who passes on the left hand side for Jankulovksi, who puts in the middle for Inzaghi. Superpippo passes backwards for Seedorf ho with a first timer scores past Sorrentino with a powerful shot.

The match ended with the second very precious consecutive win for the Rossoneri and on the stands, with the important embrace and an affectionate kiss, between Carlo Ancelotti and general manager Adriano Galliani. Chievo were nice and dangerous until the end: forward like this and the survival is certain.

Di Carlo - "We must show our intelligence against Milan"

Domenico Di Carlo knows his Chievo side need to be intelligent if they are to humble Milan tomorrow.

The Flying Donkeys are on a high after last weekend's shock 3-3 draw with Juventus allowed them to move further away from the relegation zone.

But Di Carlo knows that his men have it all to do if they are to get a result against Milan.

“Milan, alongside Inter and Juventus are the kings of Serie A,” Di Carlo told Chievo's website.

“I think Milan are technically the best side in the League. It will be difficult to stop Kaka and Co.

“We must be careful not to give them too much space or play too deep. Their strength is keeping the ball and holding possession as well as passing it around.

“We have speed on our side, but it is crucial that we show intelligence if we are to shock the Rossoneri.”

Galliani - Injuries cost us Scudetto

Adriano Galliani insists that Milan would have battled for the Scudetto had they not been weakened by injuries.

The Rossoneri started the season with high hopes, but they are 14 points behind city rivals Inter and out of title contention.

Milan have been without a number of key men at various stages of the season and Diavolo Vice-President Galliani feels the absences took their toll.

“Without all these injuries, Milan would have fought for the Scudetto,” he said on the Milan Channel.

“Unfortunately, tomorrow we will be without four central defenders and stars like Gennaro Gattuso and Marco Borriello.

“It has been a big blow that we haven't been able to use Alessandro Nesta at all this year due to his back problem.

“I am hoping that Alessandro recovers soon because he has been crucial in all this team's victories.

“We have also had to do without Kaka for seven games and in three others he only played for a small part of the match.

“When we have had Kaka in the side we have averaged almost as many points as Inter. Unfortunately you tend to pay the price when you lose a superstar like him.”

Leonardo - "Pato extraordinary"

More from Leonardo, this time on Carlo Ancelotti: 'Concerning Carlo Ancelotti I think everything is extremely clear. The coach has a contract until 2010.

The relationship with Milan is public, in the sense that everyone knows how much understanding there is between him and the club. The plan is clear for everyone: reaching the Champions League.'

Leonardo also talked about Pato: 'When he starts running no one can stop him. At this time, at his age, his quality is his spontaneity and his way of behaving on the pitch without thinking too much. If he manages to keep these gifts, with more experience and concreteness, he will become an even more extraordinary player.'

Leonardo - Kaka want to stayed

The second part of 'Segni Particolari' saw Leonardo as a guest, after the recent media frenzy surrounding him: 'Everything happened on the outside and not inside the team. It was interesting to be a media figure. It's incredibly how fast media come up with ideas, more than news...'.

On Kaká: 'Ricky showed many times he want to stay at Milan, most famously when he turned down a move to Manchester City in January. The night when he decided to stay was wonderful.

I was with him and I saw the people's commotion. It was a great party. Ricky always reiterated his will to stay."

Kaladze - Kaka and Ancelotti will stayed

Milan defender Kakha Kaladze is confident that Kaka won't walk out on the Diavolo.

Spanish newspaper Marca is adamant that the Brazilian will be at the Bernabeu next season.

But Kaka has stressed his commitment to the Milan cause and Kaladze believes his teammate.

“It is a normal occurrence that a great player is linked with many teams,” Kaladze told the club's official website.

“Everyone is talking about Real Madrid, but I think these stories are just made up to sell newspapers.

“Look at what happened with Manchester City when Kaka turned down all that money.

“It's not just about money - he showed such moral fibre to turn down the cash and I respect him for that.”

Coach Carlo Ancelotti has also been linked with Real Madrid, as well as Chelsea.

“Ancelotti is a great Coach and he has done so much for Milan. I don't think his cycle has finished,” Kaladze concluded.

Ancelotti say yes to Chelsea

Milan tactician Carlo Ancelotti has given the green light for a move to Chelsea, according to The Sun.

There have been incessant rumours linking Ancelotti to the Stamford Bridge hot seat since the departure of Luiz Felipe Scolari.

Despite Carletto's insistence that he wants to stay at San Siro, he has been linked with Real Madrid as well as Chelsea over the last month.

And according to The Sun, Ancelotti has promised Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich that he will join the Blues next summer.

The report states that Ancelotti was first choice when Scolari left but was unwilling to walk away from the Rossoneri in mid-season.

It is rumoured that Ancelotti will sign a three-year deal worth around £5.8m per season.

Kaka - "Milan is my life"

A weary Kaka has once again stressed his commitment to the Milan cause while admitting he still hasn't completely overcome his injury problems.

The Brazilian ace is repeatedly being linked with a big-money move to Real Madrid this summer.

But, despite insistent reports in the Spanish Press, Kaka claims he has no intention of jumping ship.

“I think people have talked too much recently,” he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Now I will talk. I have had no contact with Real - nobody has come after me and I think I have made it perfectly clear that I am happy here.

“For the fifth time, I am Milan for life. I have already had more lives than a cat.”

It hasn't been the best of seasons for Kaka, who has been sidelined with persistent injuries.

“I have had lots of problems,” he admitted. “I've had injuries to my knee, my back and my foot.

“I have never been able to play consistently and I'm not even 100 per cent now.

“I am hoping to get to full fitness before the end of the season and to give Milan a push to ensure we finish in the Champions League qualification places.”

Galliani laughed Kaka amusing talk

Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani laughed off “amusing” talk of Kaka leaving for Real Madrid or Chelsea.

“Every morning I read some fantastical stories in the papers and some of it is very amusing,” said the transfer guru.

“The reality though, let us be clear, is very different. The truth is there are no negotiations for the sale of Ricardo Kaka.

“Seeing as we’re here, I may as well point out for future reference that there are no talks for any other players under contract in our squad either.”

The newspapers in Spain and England have been filled with details of potential switches to either Real Madrid or Chelsea.

Kaka turned down a record-shattering £100m move to Manchester City in January.

Galliani also scoffed at reports Milan are looking to bring in Cagliari boss Massimiliano Allegri as a replacement for Carlo Ancelotti next season.

“Milan have never contacted any other Coach, as we already have Ancelotti tied to the club until June 30 2010.”

AC Milan Vs Barcelona friendly match for earthquake victims

The calcio community continues to raise funds for the victims of the earthquake in Abruzzo as Milan are trying organise a friendly against Barcelona.

The Lega Calcio, Fiorentina, Catania and Napoli have all committed funds to the appeal for the quake victims.

And now, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Barcelona have contacted Milan to suggest a charity friendly match.

“I phoned my friend Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani to propose a friendly to raise money for the families affected by the tragedy,” Barcelona chief Joan Laporta confirmed to journalists.

So far, 250 people are confirmed to have been killed in the earthquake that hit L'Aquila early on Monday morning.

Kaka - "I like Premier League a lot"

Milan superstar Kaka has distanced himself from Real Madrid by saying that he would rather play in the Premier League than La Liga.

The Brazilian playmaker has been tipped for a summer switch to the Bernabeu by the Spanish Press.

But Kaka, who turned down an offer from Manchester City in the winter, claims he would rather play in England.

“I like the Premier League a lot,” he told the Daily Star. “That could be where I go if I were to decide to leave Milan.

“Whenever possible I try to discuss experiences in different Leagues with my fellow players.

“And every player who has played in England has told me the same thing - it is a hard League, which is very hard and extremely competitive.”

Laporta would be happier if Kaka stayed

Barcelona chief Joan Laporta claims that Kaka would be better off staying at Milan rather than joining Real Madrid.

There are persistent reports in the Spanish Press that Kaka will sign for La Liga giants Real Madrid this summer.

But the President of Real's rivals Barcelona has urged the Brazilian ace to stay at San Siro.

“I would be happier if Kaka stayed at Milan,” Laporta told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“He is a world-class player who would do well anywhere, but I would advise him not to leave Milan because they are a great club.”

Former Barcelona tactician Frank Rijkaard has been tipped to take over the Milan hot seat this summer if Carlo Ancelotti leaves.

“Frank is one of the best Coaches in the world,” Laporta stressed.

“He would do great things at any club, especially at his former side Milan.

“Severing our ties with him was the hardest decision I have made during my tenure and I almost cried when we said our goodbyes.”

Allegri linked with the Milan

Cagliari boss Massimiliano Allegri is being linked with the Milan hot seat in the event that Carlo Ancelotti leaves this summer.

Ancelotti is a targeted for Chelsea, who are looking for a permanent manager once Guus Hiddink leaves, and also for Real Madrid.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Carletto has a 70 per cent chance of joining Chelsea, leaving 20 per cent for Real Madrid and just 10 per cent for Milan.

Although Ancelotti has stressed his commitment to his current employers, it seems that Milan may be lining up his successor.

Allegri has enjoyed a dream maiden Serie A season at the Stadio Sant'Elia.

After a miserable start that saw five consecutive defeats, Allegri has turned things around, securing survival ahead of schedule and leaving the Rossoblu pushing for a UEFA Cup berth.

The Sardinians' President Massimo Cellino has reportedly told Allegri that he won't stand in the way of a move to Milan and La Gazzetta dello Sport insists that a crucial meeting between the two clubs took place on March 23.

Shirt no 5 and £9m per season for Kaka?

The latest Spanish Press reports suggest that Kaka wants nearly £9m per season to sign for Real Madrid.

Despite Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani's insistence that prized asset Kaka is staying put, the Spanish newspapers are convinced that the former FIFA World Player of the Year is on his way to La Liga.

Marca yesterday ran a fake picture of Kaka with a Real Madrid No 5 shirt and claimed he had agreed a move with presidential candidate Florentino Perez.

And now AS reports that Kaka's father and agent Bosco Leite has presented the player's financial demands, which amount to nearly £12m per season - a net salary of £9m.

That sum represents £3m more than Kaka currently makes at Milan and Bosco has allegedly also demanded a payment of £8m as commission for the transfer.

It had been reported that Milan would accept a bid of £60m, but AS also insists the fee would be closer to £80m.

Ronaldinho have sixth sense?

Ronaldinho insists he “could sense” he would score a crucial goal when he stepped off the bench against Lecce.

Milan were stuck fast to a goalless scoreline in stoppages on Sunday night when Philippe Senderos headed Andrea Pirlo’s free kick on to the back of Dinho’s head, the deflection leaving the goalkeeper stranded.

“I was pretty motivated and really wanted Milan to go home with a victory,” he wrote on his ronaldinhogaucho.com blog after what turned out to be a 2-0 win.

“When I went out on the field - I can’t explain it, but I was sure I could help the team make it. I could sense it.

“I ran towards the ball, a little off balance, I leaned my head, stretching out for the ball, which changed its trajectory and ended up going out of the goalkeeper’s reach. Goooaaal! What a joy!”

Ronaldinho was also involved in the second goal moments later, his backheel flick sending Andriy Shevchenko down the left channel to cross for Pippo Inzaghi’s diving header.

“The night ended exactly how I wanted and my return to Milan couldn't have been better!"

Galliani - Kaka no deal with Madrid

Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani has moved to scotch rumours that Kaka is set to sign for Real Madrid.

Spanish Press sources insist that Real presidential candidate Florentino Perez has agreed a deal with Kaka, but Galliani has ruled that out.

“Perez and I set up the G14 and our relationship goes beyond football,” he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I don't want to encourage any controversy and I am very calm about the whole situation.

“Besides Perez has yet to be re-elected as President at Real Madrid and so he can't make any commitments.

“I am also sure that if he wanted to sign Kaka one day he would come directly to me rather than beating around the bush.

“So, in summary, I am relaxed because Kaka is not for sale and Florentino will have to come to terms with that.”

Shevchenko hopes to stay

Andriy Shevchenko may not have had much success at Milan this term, but the Ukrainian hitman hopes to stay for next season.

Former Rossoneri hero Shevchenko returned to San Siro from Chelsea on loan last summer.

After a slow start, he seems to be settling back into life with the Diavolo and he set up a goal against Lecce.

“I'm hoping to stay at Milan next year but no decision has been taken yet,” Sheva said.

“I am on good form after a goal at Wembley for the Ukraine and an assist yesterday for Milan.

“I want to continue on this road and to give my best up until the end of the season.

“I want to be better for the fans and if they are pleased with me then that makes me happy.”

Gattuso - Milan needs reinforcements

Milan talisman Rino Gattuso insists the club must invest in new defenders this summer if they are to challenge for honours next season.

The Rossoneri are down to their bare bones at the back after injuries to Alessandro Nesta, Kakha Kaladze and Daniele Bonera.

Paolo Maldini is set to retire this summer and Milan are not expected to take up the option to buy Philippe Senderos from Arsenal, making the defensive line look even more threadbare.

The Rossoneri have already signed two young Brazilian defenders, Thiago Silva and Felipe Mattioni, but Gattuso is not yet satisfied.

“Some reinforcements in defence will have to arrive,” Gattuso said, before making a case for Senderos to stay at Milan.

“He is a good lad and I am happy that, on some occasions, he has proved decisive,” Gattuso explained.

“We have had seven big injuries this year in all departments. Every department has suffered from this situation, not one has been excluded. The defence needs reinforcing,” he added.

Gattuso was then drawn on the abuse Inter Coach Jose Mourinho continues to hurl at Carlo Ancelotti.

“I neither want to argue with him, nor with anyone else, but just close your eyes and try to imagine what it means to be a protagonist in five Champions League Finals,” he said, referring to Ancelotti.

The 31-year-old later tried to play down talk of a rift between Milan and Kaka, who recently complained about the treatment he received for an injury at the club.

“The argument over his injury came from Dunga, not from him,” Gattuso concluded. “I know players from other teams, who come to heal at Milan Lab.”

Gattuso is currently recovering from a serious knee injury he suffered against Catania on December 7 2008.

Having undergone surgery on said knee, Gattuso recently started training again and could be back in time for the end of the season.
